Production of High Precision Channels for
Guideways
Guideways like the ones from Sterman have to be very accurate and they have to be in close relationship to each other. They can only be produced with a special technology.

The Challenge
High Precision Channels have to work together with other functions. For such channels wirecutting is the best process. It is one of the most accurate production processes in the world. But even the wirecut machines are not able to produce very accurate and star-shaped channels, which have to be in close relationship to each other. Therefore an additional equipment is required.

The Solution
JS JS recommends the use of a rotary table for this job. The following photo shows a high-precision clamping chuck of Sterman. It is manufactured with a JS single axis rotary table (R-10140D). This rotary table belongs to the JS standard program and is very accurate in the axial and radial run-out.
The Example

On the Chuck below, there are additional features that have very accurate requirements, along with the guideways. They applies to the high precision window at the bottom. To produce such features in one set-up, it is also possible to use a two axis rotary table. Work pieces like this can be produced in a kind of serial production in this way.
